Job Summary:
As the Content Strategist for the Boulder Public Library District (BPLD), you will play a crucial role in developing and executing marketing and communication strategies to enhance the library's brand presence and engage target audiences. Collaborating with leadership, library managers, and colleagues, you will create compelling content, manage various communication channels including social media, website, newsletters, and support marketing campaigns. You will ensure that the cadence and tone of information aligns with the organization’s communication plan and objectives.
Essential Functions:
• Create and issue high-quality written and visual content for a variety of marketing and public information print materials and online platforms, including social media posts, newsletter, and email campaigns, with the goal of advancing the library’s mission and enhancing patron engagement. (40%)
• Manage and strategically improve the library’s social media presence on platforms including Facebook, X, and Instagram by creating and scheduling engaging posts, tracking impact, and interacting with social media participants. (25%)
• Develop and maintain public and internal communications by preparing talking points, creating press releases, and formulating media pitches. (10%)
• Monitor and analyze the impact of library marketing and communications, gathering feedback and utilizing metrics to assess campaign effectiveness and implement necessary changes. (20%)
• Develop and maintain brand guidelines and provide leadership and guidance to colleagues to ensure brand consistency for marketing and communication channels. (5%)
Additional Responsibilities:
• Serve as a library representative by participating in community activities, committees, working groups, and events.
• Collaborate with colleagues to attain desired outputs and outcomes for the organization, promoting a positive and productive workplace culture.
This position is a full-time, in-person, 40-hour per week position. We are targeting a hiring salary range of $60,000-$70,000 per year.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Education and experience: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field. A minimum of five years of work experience in marketing or communications roles and experience with media relations, social media engagement and community outreach.
• Skills:
1. Demonstrated strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and effective interpersonal and communications skills.
2. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software and marketing tools (Canva, InDesign, etc.) and social media management tools. Proficiency of making changes to the website.
3. Expertise with analysis of social media metrics to evaluate impact and effectiveness of digital marketing and communication strategies.
Working Conditions:
Work primarily in an office setting. Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor and operating a keyboard. Requires sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate a computer, office, and library equipment. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permit the employee to work in a multilevel facility. Seeing, hearing, and speaking required.
